Yesterday was Christmas

I got a present yesterday.

These adorable Pyrex bowls.

Andy's mom, Lois, spotted them at a garage sale and because she knows how much I love them, she grabbed them up for me.

Rumor has it that she fought off another lady who also had her eye on them. After some purse swinging and a little bit of a brawl, the bowls were going home with Lois, to eventually make their home in my cupboard.

Okay, I don't really think that happened. I'm pretty sure I just imagined that Lois went to war to get them for me, just cause she loves me. But I'm pretty sure she would have if that's what it came down to. She knows I adore my matching casserole dish.

Don't they just look like the cutest little family, sitting there all together on my counter?

Merry 2nd Christmas to me!! Hope that imaginary lady I made up is recovering from her purse bruises.

lovely spaces

Right now, all I see outside my window is a flurry of snow. All I see on the table in front of me is pages and pages of lecture notes on the fate of Eastern Europe post 1945.

What I wouldn't give for a space and view like this:

or this:

I'm quite sure I'd be much more happy.

But I doubt I'd be any more willing to dive into those lecture notes!

just some fun with music

I seriously have been up to my eyeballs in class work. Not even kidding. I haven't had the time or energy to get on my blog and say so much as "hi" lately. It's insane and it's only going to get more crazy. I just registered for my summer class so there's no break for me but that's okay. I'm all about pushing through right now. That diploma is so so close. I can taste it!! Okay, maybe not but you know what I mean.

My Ipod has been getting me through the boring math assignments and lecture notes lately. It's been my saving grace, that and Andy's constant encouragement. I thought I'd share some of the music that gets me pumped to WORK the most.

I think I've posted a lot of my fun loving and sweet, sentimental favorites lately, but when it really comes down to it- I like the stuff that really gets my blood pumping. The stuff that makes me feel determined.

Songs like "Coming Undone" by Korn with Dem Franchize Boys. Amazing collaboration. I'm posting the instrumental version of the song just cause the lyrics are raunchy but if you want to hear the lyrics version just find it on Youtube.

Anyways- I'm going to attempt to get back on schedule today. Pretty sure Korn will be with me all the way.

ps- If you ever watched America's Best Dance Crew. I believe the Jabbawockeez performed to "Lean Wit It" a few seasons back. We don't have cable so I can't watch it anymore. That gives me a sad face, because I loved that show. Hmm... maybe I'll try to find that video or just post some Jabberwockeez just for fun.....and maybe some of my other favorites songs. I'll just have fun with it today.... enjoy!

"Coming Undone" Instrumental Version

"Lean Wit It" with Jabbawockeez- Not one of their strongest dances but still good.

"Turn Heads" Dem Franchize Boys with Lloyd

"Throw It On Me" by Timbaland featuring The Hives- Seriously, this song is sick. I love it.

"If We Ever Meet Again" by Timbaland featuring Katy Perry- Totally loving this one!! This isn't 'hard', but I have to share it because it's my number one pick right now.

And I have to post some Lil John for my baby. Andy does a perfect impression of him-

"Get Low" Lil John with The Eastside Boyz- I never get tired of this song. They used to play it during the awards ceremony at drill competitions and it was so fun to watch the teams mess around and freestyle to it.

A couple more from Jabbawockeez just cause they're the shiz.

"PYT" When we first saw this on ABDC, I think I started crying. I always cry when I see incredible dancing no matter what style it is. You just can't help but completely appreciate the work and total dedication that goes in to routines like that. It's amazing to watch artists who truly love what they do. It's very inspiring.

So PYT is one of mine and my sister's favorites. My mom recorded it and we rewound that tape and watched the recording over and over again until it finally wore out.

"Apologize" The creativity and originality in their choreography is so incredible.

Well, I think I'm pumped and ready to study!!

They did it!!

Well, the wedding and reception went off without a hitch. Here's some pictures from the night:

The wedding was held at Le Jardin in Utah. Le Jardin is a garden center with a series of green houses that they hold weddings and receptions in. Each green house is filled with beautiful foliage and colorful flowers.

It makes for a spectacular background to your wedding. It's a great way to have an 'outdoor' wedding feel while being indoors. With Utah's ever changing weather you never can tell if you're going to get rained or snowed on so Le Jardin was a perfect fit for Heather and Joe's hawaiian themed wedding.

Several water fountains frame the green house and really add to the ambiance.

After the sun sets the green house is lit by thousands of sweet little twinklie lights.

What I love about Le Jardin is that they handle all the decorations.....

...but they don't require that you use their caterer. I think it's nice to have the option to bring in your own food and serve what you want.

Heather's mom made all the food, an undertaking that requires you to be Super Woman, I'm sure. But she's a great cook and everything was so good. Among the food, she served sushi and these yummy chocolate eclairs.

The cake had chocolate seashells and fresh flowers on it:

The serving area- I love the pergola!

The ceremony was held underneath this beautiful gazebo:

Joe's cute neice was the flower girl:

Several members of Heather's family flew in from Hawaii for the ceremony. Each guest was given a hawaiian flower for their hair as they entered the reception area. Myself and the other bridesmaid wore lei's instead of carrying bouquets.

Heather looked radiant!

The ceremony went smoothly and everyone was able to enjoy the rest of the evening together.

Congrats Heather and Joe! We love you!

Vegas

We had so much fun in Vegas this weekend!! We didn't want our vacation to end.

The drive down there.

We pulled in to Vegas around 3 in the afternoon and after registering at the hotel (we didn't stay in a casino) we decided to head down to the strip and take a look around.

The Venetian Casino (ceiling)

Sorry this pic is blurry but this is the canal that runs through the Venetian.
You can take gondola rides on it.

Treasure Island

After wandering around for a bit we decided to make our way over to the mall and find some dinner. We ended up eating at California Pizza Kitchen.

We didn't have pizza though. I had the Thai salad and Andy had salad also, but I forget what kind. I only remember it was yummy!

When the sun started to set we decided to head over to Fremont Street. We were in search of yard long margarita's and deep fried Twinkies.

On the way over we passed by Treasure Island again and caught a bit of the pirate show. They have two pirate ships out front.

We watched the half naked wenches on one ship 'battling' the hot pirate guys on the other ship. Very entertaining, let me tell you!

We finally made it to Fremont Street and found the Twinkies. Look at that deep fried goodness covered in chocolate and powdered sugar. They're so rich and I was too full to finish mine.

After watching the LED ceiling screen that covers half of Fremont street for a bit, we decided to head back to the hotel and call it a night.

The next morning we woke up and had continental breakfast at the hotel. Then went for a morning swim in the 'heated' pool. It was a little chilly at first, but the swim was actually kind of nice and we were able to get a little sun bathing in as it got warmer.

After showering and getting ready for the day we met up with Heather, Joe and the rest of the wedding party for lunch which was really fun and I'm sorry I don't have pictures of that.

Andy and I had some time to ourselves that afternoon so we decided to take the scenic drive up to Red Rock Canyon. It is so pretty up there.

The weather was perfect for hiking and climbing but we hadn't brought any of our climbing gear with us, so we'll have to plan for that next time.

You can see a helicopter in the distance dropping off climbers on the top of the peak. There were climbers and routes all across the canyon! It looked like a lot of fun.

View of Vegas from Red Rocks

On our way down we discovered this cute little place-Bonnie Springs.

They have horseback riding, a western town complete with melodrama and gun fights, a petting zoo and a restaurant. We stopped to watch the turtles swimming around. I wanted to take one home but eventually decided that wasn't in the turtles' best interest what with Henry and Mauney lurking around. We also stopped in the restaurant and had a couple drinks.

After cleaning up back at the hotel, Andy dropped me off at Heather's for the bachelorette party and he headed out to visit a friend.

For the first part of the night the girls met at Heather's house for dinner and a little bit of bachelorette party fun and silliness.

The bride

Later that night the boys met up with us and we all headed over to the Voodoo Lounge. There was about 16 of us and Heather's sister in law, Liz, had a contact at the club that was able to comp us a $700 VIP table, so that was pretty sweet.

We felt just a teensy bit like celebrities being led past the line of people waiting to get in the club and up the elevator to our table. The guy that took us up there was all sorts of professional in his black suit and businesslike with his serious face. I kinda thought he came straight out of MIB looking like that.

The dance floor is outside on the top level of the Rio.

Andy and I danced together for awhile which was super fun and when we got hot and tired we stopped for a bit and took in the view.

By the end of the night we were wiped out and my high heeled feet were screaming! But since Andy kept telling me how hot I looked, I decided they had been worth it, haha.

The next morning we packed it up and headed back to the snowy Utah mountains feeling pretty sad that our fun weekend was already over.

Last night I went to the wedding rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner and tonight Andy and I will be at the wedding. I'll share pictures of all that tomorrow.
